We just finished working on the 2nd year of the Ottawa Makeover Project, and what a great year we had! Once again, a group of dedicated local business owners worked together to give one Ottawa area resident a Life Makeover. Nikki, our participant this year, was so lovely to work with, and we look forward to seeing her continued efforts towards excellent health.
What did she receive as part of the Project?
Nikki had laser skin refinement completed by the team at Kanata Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery. Personal training and nutritional counselling were provided by the amazing team at Executive Fitness Leaders. Colleen O’Connell-Campbell, Senior Wealth Advisor from Scotia McLeod helped Nikki improve her money management, and Russ Molot provided will and estate planning for Nikki and her husband Serge. Tammy Plunkett Life Coaching worked with Nikki on how to set and achieve her personal goals, and the talented team at Rinaldo’s Hair Designers and Spa gave her a new hair and makeup look. My role in this was to whiten and brighten Nikki’s smile, which included improving the appearance of some teeth severely damaged when Nikki was quite young. And lastly, the finishing touches of Nikki’s reveal outfit for CTV Morning Live last week were donated by Three Wild Women in Westboro along with a glam photo shoot by Howard Sandler Photography. All in all, this year the businesses planned to donate $30,000 of good and services…an unbelievable package.
What happens to all of the other applicants?
This year, just like last year, each of the businesses also offered smaller “treats” to some of the runners up. Also, just like last year, my office (along with a gracious donation from Align Technology) donated Invisalign to one of our applicants, and her treatment is still ongoing. I also had the pleasure to meet a young man named Aaron whose story really touched me so deeply that I wanted to help him. I’ll be covering his story fully in a future blog piece, but with the amazing work donated by Dr. Hassan Moghadam (Argyle and Associates Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons) as well as my favourite dental laboratory, Aurum Classic Dental, we were able to work as a team to give this man back a healthy smile to move forward with the rest of his life.
What does the future hold?
The Ottawa Makeover Project is already accepting applications for the 2015-16 year! If you or someone you love would be a great candidate for a Life Makeover, simply visit www.ottawamakeoverproject.com and apply directly from the website…it’s that simple! Please remember…this is NOT a basket of goodies, but rather an opportunity to use the expertise and energy of these fantastic local businesses to help you become your best you. This STARTS with the six months of the project, but to be the RIGHT candidate you have to want to make this a life change. Applications can be submitted until Thanksgiving Monday, but please don’t wait and apply at any time.
We all look forward to “meeting” you via your application very soon. This could be the year that YOU become your best you. Good luck!
